Women’s College Hospital Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to philosophy, inc., a global skincare brand that has partnered with WCH to help more women access high quality mental health services.
philosophy has selected Women’s College Hospital’s new Trauma Therapy Project as the recipient of a grant from its Hope & Grace Fund, which has a mission to provide urgent funding to organizations that promote women’s mental health and well-being. The company has also generously donated a variety of skincare products to WCH’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Centre, which will be included in special care packages that help bring a sense of comfort and dignity to patients of the SA/DVCC.

philosophy’s support of the Trauma Therapy Project will enable the launch of a pilot initiative to produce a unique training module in trauma-related women’s mental health for health practitioners working at the community level. Through the availability of a focused training program ultimately made available to practitioners in communities across the province and beyond, the project’s goal is to improve women’s rapid access to urgently needed, compassionate mental healthcare.
When it comes to mental health, women face unique challenges. Women have higher rates of mood and anxiety disorders than men (CAMH) and represent the largest single group of people affected by post-traumatic stress disorder due to the high prevalence of sexual violence against women (WHO). In addition, an estimated 80% of people affected by conflict, war, disasters and displacement are women and children, resulting in high rates of mental health challenges (WHO).
