The Peter Gilgan Centre for Women’s Cancers at WCH, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society

On February 3, 2017, Women’s College Hospital Foundation was proud to announce that Peter Gilgan, philanthropist and long-time donor, and the Canadian Cancer Society have made a collaborative and transformation gift to Women’s College Hospital that will establish The Peter Gilgan Centre for Women’s Cancers at WCH.

The Peter Gilgan Centre for Women’s Cancers will build upon the existing strengths and expertise of Women’s College Hospital and scale critical innovations in research, care and education emerging from our hospital to healthcare institutions, health professionals, women and families through the Canadian Cancer Society’s extensive national network.

Areas of focus

The national approach to transform care for women's cancers led by The Peter Gilgan Centre for Women's Cancers, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, is rooted in four key focus areas:

1. Research: Revolutionize care through groundbreaking research.
2. Integrated clinical programming: One-stop shop models of care rooted in innovative new best practice.
3. Innovation: Develop, implement, evaluate and nationally scale up new best practices in care and education.
4. Education and empowerment: Empower healthcare providers, patients and families to deliver and receive better care.

Strategy

Driven by four key areas of focus, The Peter Gilgan Centre for Women's Cancers will deliver a comprehensive strategy with a vision to empower women and their families by transforming care for women's cancers nationwide.
