SUMMARY:Black Women's Healthcare Summit
DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 29\, 2026\, for a transformative evening of learning\, connection and empowerment at Women’s College Hospital’s sixth annual Black Women’s Healthcare Summit\, taking place at the Toronto Reference Library.\n\nThis year’s summit\, moderated by CBC’s Tashauna Reid\, will continue to explore the unique needs and critical gaps in Black women’s health. Together\, we’ll examine the complex ways race\, gender and health intersect\, and how these factors influence healthcare experiences and outcomes. The Summit remains a powerful gathering place for learning and change\, bringing together allies\, advocates and community leaders committed to improving the health and well‑being of Black women\, their families and their communities.\n\nTogether\, we can continue to confront systemic disparities and revolutionize healthcare – for Black women and for all.\nThe Panels\n\nThe Weight of Care: Black Women as Caregivers Across a Lifetime \n\nFrom first-time mother to primary caregiver\, what does a lifetime of caring for others mean for Black women? This conversation will explore how caregiving shapes the health and well-being of Black women across every stage of life while balancing the many responsibilities they carry every day.  \nBeginning with postpartum transitions and extending into the realities of the sandwich generation\, the discussion will explore what it means to be relied upon by children\, parents\, partners\, workplaces\, and communities\, often without adequate support\, and how that cumulative weight of caregiving shapes health\, well-being\, and quality of life over time.  \nLearn more about the speakers \nUnderstanding cycles\, pain and care through lived experience\n\nWhat’s normal and what’s been overlooked for too long?”  \nThis conversation brings clarity to gynecological conditions\, creating space to better understand menstrual cycles\, pain and what the body may be trying to signal.  \nFrom heavy or painful periods to conditions such as fibroids\, endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)\, Black women experience these conditions at higher rates\, compounded by barriers in delays in diagnosis\, access to screening and follow up care.  \nTogether\, panelists will dispel myths\, break down what is and is not typical\, and help attendees feel more confident recognizing when something is not right. Grounded in lived experience and medical insights\, this panel aims to replace uncertainty with understanding\, empowering participants with knowledge that can support their health today and over time.  \nLearn more about the speakers \n\n\n\n\n\nLearn More\n\nBuy Tickets
