Teams from across the hospital will pitch ideas to improve care for women and equity-deserving communities. Generously funded and supported by our donor community\, the Breakthrough Challenge will award up to $100\,000 in funding to the winning team. Join us on November 10 to champion groundbreaking solutions that defy the status quo. \nMonday\, November 10\, 5:30 – 8:30 pm\, Women’s College Hospital\, Auditorium\, 2nd Floor \nWe are pleased to share this year’s finalists and their projects:  \n Karim Ladha and Rachel Savage: CARIS: A Conversational Tool to Combat Social Isolation in Older Adults Undergoing Surgery \nKarim and Rachel’s project recognizes that social connection is a powerful determinant of health and proposes an AI-powered chatbot to deliver personalized information and social support for socially isolated and lonely older adult patients. \n Jennifer Shuldiner: From Transcripts to Transformation: Co-creating with patients to leverage AI Scribes to Improve Patient Centered Communication in Family Practice \nJennifer’s project seeks to empower family physicians and residents to improve their patient centered communication through leveraging AI scribe technology to provide feedback on empathy\, shared decision-making\, and clear explanations. \n Sheila Wang: Seeing the Unseen: Closing Gaps in Dermatology Care \nSheila’s project sets out to see the unseen by using thermal imaging technology enhanced with AI to detect underdiagnosed and undertreated skin conditions in people with darker skin tones\, especially Black skin. \nThis year\, we are excited to announce the addition of the People’s Choice Award – a chance for the audience to directly support our incredible finalists. At the event\, guests will vote for a project\, and the winner will receive the People’s Choice Award. Donations towards the 2025 Breakthrough Challenge People’s Choice Award will provide prize money for the winning team\, driving progress for women’s health across Canada and beyond.
