Door-to-Door Fundraising

Women’s College Hospital Foundation conducts door-to-door campaigns around the Greater Toronto Area to increase awareness of the programs and vital mission of Women’s College Hospital, and to gain new supporters.

In keeping with Imagine Canada’s standards, our canvassers are paid an hourly wage, and do not receive commission for the supporters they acquire or the dollars they help raise. Women’s College Hospital Foundation has partnered with GlobalFaces Direct to conduct door-to-door fundraising, and canvassers receive training to speak on our behalf.

How do I identify a Women’s College Hospital Foundation canvasser?

All WCHF canvassers have an ID badge and wear a vest with our logo on the front and back.

What can I expect when I sign up with a canvasser?

When signing up to make a donation with a door-to-door fundraiser, your contact information will be captured securely on a tablet. To complete your donation, the canvasser will call 1-833-762-0840 to connect you with an agent who will confirm your donation details. Although it might seem like a lot, this two-step process ensures that your personal information is handled safely and securely.

Do canvassers accept cash donations?

No. For your security and for the safety of our canvassers, door to door representatives are not permitted to accept cash donations.

Is it safe to share my information with canvassers?

Yes. Personal information is securely collected on a handheld device that is equipped with encrypted software. Also, Women’s College Hospital Foundation will never trade, sell, or rent your name or contact information. Your personal information is used only for donor-related or tax receipting purposes.

I made a donation. Will I get a tax receipt?

Yes! Any gift you make over $10 will be issued a charitable contribution receipt. Monthly donors will get one receipt for all their donations this year in February of next year, in order to save your time and WCHF resources.

COVID-19 Update

The health and safety of our community and our canvassers is of utmost importance, and we have implemented safety measures to ensure that your interaction with our canvassers is contact-free. Canvassers wear PPE, maintain physical distance, and will securely enter your information into their tablets. We are closely monitoring developments and are adhering to public health guidelines.
