For Every Breast: $4 Million Dollars Raised!
Women’s College Hospital’s Breast Imaging Department will soon be receiving life-saving new diagnostic equipment for breast cancer screening and research – all thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our donor community.
We are so pleased to share that we have reached the incredible milestone of raising $2 million in funds from donors right across our community, at all levels, which secures a generous $2 million matching gift from FDC Foundation for the purchase of the new technology. Totalling an incredible $4 million for new life-saving diagnostic equipment!
The urgently-needed new machines –– consisting of four mammography machines and four ultrasound machines –– offer leading-edge technology that will significantly advance Women’s College Hospital’s impact as a world leader in breast cancer care, while delivering more comfortable and effective patient care.
“The new machines will allow us to achieve the highest quality images possible in the shortest amount of time while giving our radiologists the best information to make a diagnosis.”
Corwin Burton, WCH’s Clinical Manager of Diagnostic Imaging
With one of the ultrasound machines dedicated to research, the arrival of the new equipment will also empower new discoveries in breast cancer imaging and diagnostics that hold the potential to save countless lives. Furthermore, the new state-of-the-art mammography and breast ultrasound machines will allow the hospital to see an additional 1,000+ patients each year!
A special thank you to the FDC Foundation and our wonderful donors for leading the movement to revolutionize healthcare! Although the match is over, the fundraising for the final $500,000 for the upgrade of the imaging rooms continues, so they can be as state-of-the-art as our new equipment.
