Thank you for your UNSTOPPABLE support for women’s mental health!
This year’s Run for Women, presented by the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart program, was a tremendous success!
Over 1,600 runners and walkers took to the streets of Toronto between July 4 – 11, 2021 to show their support and raise funds for women’s mental health. Directly supporting the Department of Psychiatry at Women’s College Hospital (WCH), the 10-day virtual event, which is part of a national series raised over $335,000!
“The funds that are raised by the Run for Women in Toronto have been, and continue to be, instrumental in helping our team at Women’s College Hospital develop and evaluate innovative mental health programming, including virtual support groups and online platforms that are connecting patients to care and support where, when and how they need it,” says Dr. Simone Vigod, chief of psychiatry at WCH. “Support from this year’s run will help us to continue to innovate, support new researchers, and focus on increasing equity, diversity and inclusion for the patient populations we serve – an important investment that will build sustainable capacity now, and well into the future.”
The 18 city pan-Canada event garnered exceptional support for local women’s mental health charities across the country, collectively raising over $3.4 million.
“With generous support from the Run for Women community and through Shoppers Drug Mart, we can help more women access the life-changing care they need and deserve,” says Jennifer Bernard, president and CEO of Women’s College Hospital Foundation. “Although we couldn’t gather together in person, I could still feel the unstoppable power of thousands of runners and walkers committed to making a difference in the lives of women everywhere. We are so grateful!”
From all of us at Women’s College Hospital Foundation, thank you for lacing up with us for women’s mental health!
