Making the pitch to accelerate healthcare innovation: Women’s College Hospital Healthcare Breakthrough Challenge
On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the inaugural Women’s College Hospital Healthcare Breakthrough Challenge took place at Women’s College Hospital (WCH) as three finalist teams pitched their groundbreaking ideas to improve care for women and equity-deserving communities.
WCH has a rich history in developing revolutionary advances in healthcare and supporters of Women’s College Hospital steadfastly share the passion for healthcare innovation. At WCH, we have the courage to see and do things differently, just like the late Karen Green, who left a gift to the Foundation to ensure her legacy as a consummate champion and supporter of women’s health would continue. The Karen Green Courage Award will make available up to $100,000 each year for five years to fund transformative new ideas in healthcare that will drive innovation and equity for all in their health journey.
Donors who contributed a minimum of $5,000 had the chance to cast their vote for one game-changing idea to be funded. Thanks to the immense generosity of our donors and supporters and their steadfast belief in healthcare innovation, we were thrilled to present two groundbreaking projects with funding.
Congratulations to Dr. Dana Ross, recipient of the Karen Green Courage Award for her project Transforming Healthcare Through Trauma-Informed Care Education, and Chandra Farrer and Dr. Andrew Kouri, recipients of the 2023 Breakthrough Challenge Award for My Lung Health Coach: A Virtual COPD Self-Management Support Program Integrated into The Electronic Patient Record.
